Basic Apps (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Drift mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Mood selections — when you select a mood before a session, that selection is stored locally on your device only. We do not transmit your mood data to any server.
- Session history — your session records (experience type, duration, completion status) are stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device.
Information Collected Automatically
- Subscription status — Apple processes all subscription purchases through the App Store. We receive a receipt from Apple confirming your subscription status. We do not receive or store your payment card information.
Device Permissions We Request
- Haptics — used to provide physical feedback during touch visual sessions. No data is collected.
- Audio — used to play ambient soundscapes during sessions. Audio playback occurs on-device; no recording takes place.
We do not request access to your camera, microphone (for recording), contacts, location, or any other sensitive device capabilities beyond what is listed above.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above solely to:
- Provide and operate the App’s core features
- Track your daily session count to enforce free-tier limits
- Verify your subscription status through Apple’s App Store
We do not:
- Sell your personal information to any third party
- Share your mood or session data with any third party
- Use your data for advertising or marketing purposes
- Track you across apps or websites
- Collect or transmit any personally identifiable information
3. Data Storage and Security
All data you generate — mood selections, session history, and preferences — is stored locally on your device only using Apple’s SwiftData framework. We do not operate any servers that store your personal data.
Your data is protected by your device’s built-in security, including encryption at rest.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following services:
- Apple App Store / StoreKit — for processing subscription payments. Apple’s Privacy Policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy
- Apple CloudKit — soundscape audio content is streamed from a Basic Apps-managed CloudKit database. The audio files are public assets; no personal data is associated with CloudKit requests. Apple’s Privacy Policy applies.
We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services.
5. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Since all personal data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:
- Access — you can view your session history and preferences within the App at any time.
- Deletion — deleting the App from your device permanently removes all locally stored data.
To cancel your subscription, manage it through your iPhone’s Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
