Basic Apps (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Basic Checkbook mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account name and display name â collected when you sign in with Apple. We store this locally on your device only.
- Financial data â account names, balances, and transactions you enter are stored exclusively on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
- Feedback submissions â if you choose to submit feedback through the in-app feedback form, we collect the category you selected (e.g., Bug, Feature Request) and the message you typed. We do not collect your name, email, or any financial information through this form.
Information Collected Automatically
- Sign In with Apple â when you sign in, Apple may share your name and email address with us. We store this locally on your device to personalize your experience and do not transmit it to any server.
- Subscription status â Apple processes all subscription purchases through the App Store. We receive a receipt from Apple confirming your subscription status. We do not receive or store your payment card information.
Device Permissions We Request
- Face ID / Touch ID â used solely to unlock the app. Biometric data is processed by Apple’s system and never accessed or stored by us.
- Camera â used optionally to take a photo for a bank account logo. Photos are stored locally on your device only.
- Photo Library â used optionally to select an existing photo for a bank account logo. Photos are stored locally on your device only.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above solely to:
- Provide and operate the App’s core features
- Verify your subscription status through Apple’s App Store
- Display your name within the App
- Respond to feedback and improve the App
We do not:
- Sell your personal information to any third party
- Share your financial data with any third party
- Use your data for advertising or marketing purposes
- Track you across apps or websites
3. Data Storage and Security
All financial data you enter â accounts, transactions, and balances â is stored locally on your device only using Apple’s SwiftData framework. We do not operate any servers that store your financial data.
Your data is protected by your device’s built-in security, including encryption at rest.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following services:
- Sign In with Apple â for authentication. Apple’s Privacy Policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy
- Apple App Store / StoreKit â for processing subscription payments. Apple’s Privacy Policy applies.
- iCloud / CloudKit â Premium subscribers may enable cloud sync. Your data is stored in your personal iCloud account and governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. We cannot access your iCloud data.
- Formspree â used to receive in-app feedback submissions. When you submit feedback, your message and selected category are sent to Formspree and forwarded to our private email address. No financial data or personal identifiers are transmitted. Formspree’s Privacy Policy applies: formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy
We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash reporting services.
5. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Since all your financial data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it:
- Access and export â you can view all your data within the App at any time. Premium subscribers can export transactions to CSV.
- Deletion â deleting the App from your device permanently removes all locally stored financial data.
- Sign out â signing out of the App removes your authentication credentials from the device.
To cancel your subscription, manage it through your iPhone’s Settings â Apple ID â Subscriptions.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
