Please read these Terms of Use (“Terms”) carefully before using the Basic Checkbook mobile application (the “App”) operated by Basic Apps (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the App, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age, that you have read and understood these Terms, and that you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of the App

Basic Checkbook is a personal finance management application that allows you to track bank accounts, record transactions, and manage your checkbook register. The App is intended for personal, non-commercial use only.

Important: Basic Checkbook is a personal recordkeeping tool. It is not a bank, financial institution, or licensed financial advisor. The App does not connect to or communicate with any bank or financial institution. All data you enter is self-reported and for your personal tracking purposes only. Nothing in the App constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.

3. Subscription and Billing

Free Tier

The App is available for free with limited features, including one account.

Premium Subscription

Additional features are available through an annual auto-renewing subscription:

  • Price: $23.99 per year (prices may vary by region)
  • Billing: Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
  • Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • Cancellation: You may cancel at any time through your iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you will retain access to premium features until that date
  • Refunds: All purchases are processed by Apple and subject to Apple’s refund policy. We do not issue refunds directly. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com
  • Free trials: If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited upon purchasing a subscription

4. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the App only for lawful personal purposes
  • Maintain the security of your passcode and biometric authentication
  • Ensure the accuracy of any financial data you enter (we are not responsible for errors in self-entered data)

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App
  • Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the App
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App

5. Intellectual Property

The App, including all content, features, design, and code, is owned by Basic Apps and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal purposes in accordance with these Terms.

The fonts used in the App (CartographCF, Proxima Nova, PinkSunset) are licensed for use within the App and may not be extracted or used separately.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The App will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • Data stored in the App will never be lost (we strongly recommend keeping independent backups of important financial records)
  • The App will meet your specific requirements

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, BASIC APPS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR FINANCIAL LOSSES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Pennsylvania.
